Alaire's Arabesque

Here is my entry for The Paper Chain, round 7.

The character is Alaire, belonging to pridefulsin.

He's very cute, and was inspired by Le Petit Prince, whom I love and adore, so I was automatically interested in drawing him. And then, he was influenced by ballet, and having done ballet, I decided to put him in an arabesque - one of my favourite poses. And then, pridefulsin challenged the entrants to do a difficult pose, so I threw myself headlong into the perspective pool and half-drowned trying to figure out the perspective on this. And try as I might, there were no shots of an arabesque from this angle anywhere - in fact, I couldn't even find any stock photos of guys with their arms up like this from a downward angle. But then, I probably wasn't looking upt he right keywords
Anyway, if the perspective is totally hooey, I'm sorry, but I tried my best!

And as this is my first ever entry to The Paper Chain, I hope I did it justice... > w <;;

Anyway: credit for textures:
The background base was from meisan's Watercolour textures, which i then fiddled with.
The texture used for the darker parts of his outfit are from sgeier's fractals, in particular Refocus.

I did the whole thing in photoshop for a change, and still don't like digital inking.
