I didn't think I'd get to colour this anytime soon, hence the posting of the lnies, but i liked the lineart so much i kind of got carried away on it...
Again, I hate backlighting. It hurts my wee brain.
But here's Ralon T'Kavash, known as Ralon the Blind, praying to Isham. That there's his manna, or aura glowing around him. He was pretty powerful by this stage of his life. Ralon is the hero from the book "Ralon the Blind" from the Circle Series.
The background is a photo I took of the most glorious sunset in recent memory here. coloured in PSCS2 with a wacom Intuos 3 tablet.
And yes, now I go back to working on the things I'm meant to be working on.
I really like the lighting and the glow of this piece but I feel like you could have paid a little more attention to the hair which seems rather flat in comparison to everything else. I also like the perspective on the hands and the choice of a frontal view as it gives Ralon a strong presence on the page, a sense of strength and capability.
Yeah, this is one of those pieces that was leaps and bounds for me in colouring at the time, but that now I go back and see a lot I could have done better (the lighting on his chest for instance). It was a little hamstringed by the fact that the original lineart was really small (I think 4x2" or something?) so when I went to colour it, I didn't have a lot of room to zoom in and smooth things out. Still, despite that, it has been my most popular print to date (which reminds me, I really should get more done up)...

I really like the piece as a whole. There's something about the colour palette that's eye catching without being glaring. It's still one of my favourite prints too xD
Yeah,t he colours came out really pretty! it was one of the first pieces I did that managed atmospheric lighting. It was especially exciting because the photo that gave the colours used for the whole is one I took myself, for a change.

Not in Ul-Zaorith it isn't. it's from the English-ized version of the word MannaWeave, which is translated directly from the Ancient word for the verb 'to cast magic' - Manna
